Micro Pneumatic Solenoid Valve for OEM Air & Vacuum Control
Pinmotor manufactures compact micro pneumatic solenoid valves for low-pressure air and vacuum control in OEM equipment.
Available configurations support pressure holding, controlled exhaust, vacuum release and air-path switching, with options for single-channel or multi-channel pneumatic systems used in
medical devices, massage equipment, beauty products and other compact electronic equipment.
Why Use a 12V Micro Solenoid Valve?
A 12V micro solenoid valve is mainly selected when the equipment already uses a 12V DC power supply.
Using the same supply voltage for the valve can simplify wiring and avoid adding a separate voltage-conversion circuit.
A 12V valve is suitable when:
● the equipment has a stable 12V DC output;
● the controller can supply the required coil current;
● the valve shares the power rail with pumps, motors or other 12V components;
● PCB and installation space are limited;
● the existing control system is designed around 12V DC.
Voltage alone is not enough for selection. Coil power, current draw, working pressure and duty cycle should also be checked before the valve is approved.
12V Micro Solenoid Valve Product Range
Pinmotor offers 12V micro solenoid valves for air, water and compatible liquid-control systems. The range covers plastic-body, stainless-steel, food-contact and low-power configurations for different OEM equipment requirements. Final selection should be based on the medium, operating temperature, installation space and required material documentation.
PPS and PA66 bodies are used where low weight, corrosion resistance and compact installation are important.
Typical applications include pneumatic modules, water circuits, beverage equipment and small fluid-control systems.
For long-term liquid contact, confirm the operating temperature, cleaning agent and seal material together with the valve body.
304 and 316L stainless-steel versions are available for applications requiring stronger wetted components or specific material compatibility.
They are commonly considered for medical equipment, laboratory systems and chemical-liquid control.
The stainless-steel grade should not be evaluated alone. Seals, springs, plungers and other wetted parts must also be checked against the target medium.
Selected 12V solenoid valve configurations can use PPS or stainless-steel bodies with suitable sealing materials for:
● coffee machines;
● tea and beverage equipment;
● water dispensers;
● food-processing equipment.
Required food-contact documents should be confirmed according to the selected materials and destination market rather than assumed for the complete product range.
Low-power 12V miniature solenoid valves are intended for equipment with limited current capacity, restricted installation space or long standby periods.
Typical uses include portable instruments, smart bathroom products, compact electronic equipment and small control modules.
Low power should not be selected by wattage alone. The coil must still provide enough force for the actual pressure, valve structure and duty cycle.
What Should an Engineer Check on a 12V Valve Datasheet?
A 12V label only identifies the nominal coil voltage. It does not tell you whether the valve will work correctly in your equipment.
The following values should be checked together.
| Item | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Rated Voltage | Defines the intended coil supply |
| Coil Power | Determines current demand and heat generation |
| Coil Resistance | Useful for checking electrical consistency and estimating current |
| Valve Function | Defines what happens when the coil is energized or de-energized |
| Pressure Range | Determines whether the actuator can switch under the system load |
| Flow Capacity | Determines whether the valve creates excessive restriction |
| Medium | Determines the required body and sealing materials |
| Duty Cycle | Determines whether the coil can remain energized for the required period |
| Ambient Temperature | Affects coil temperature and available thermal margin |
| Wiring Method | Must match the PCB, harness and assembly process |

A valve should not be approved from the words “12V DC” alone.
12V Coil Load and Current Budget
The controller must be able to supply enough current to pull the plunger into its operating position.
Pinmotor's 12V range includes different power levels according to valve size, magnetic force and operating requirement.
For engineering selection, use:
Current ≈ Coil Power ÷ 12V
For example, a lower-power coil draws less current than a higher-force coil, but the lowest-power option is not automatically the best choice. Magnetic force still needs to overcome:
● return-spring preload;
● pressure acting on the valve seat;
● seal friction;
● plunger friction;
● manufacturing tolerance;
● temperature-related changes.
The coil should therefore be selected from the required operating margin, not only from the lowest current consumption.
Voltage at the Valve Matters More Than Voltage at the Power Supply
A common integration problem is measuring 12V at the power supply while the voltage reaching the valve is lower during switching.
Electrical Integration of a 12V Micro Solenoid Valve
● long wiring;
● small wire gauge;
● PCB traces;
● connectors;
● switching transistors;
● shared power rails;
● battery discharge;
● simultaneous operation of other loads.
For prototype verification, measure voltage directly across the coil terminals while the valve is energized.
● move slowly;
● stop before full travel;
● switch inconsistently;
● fail when system pressure increases.
This is especially important when several 12V loads share the same power supply.
A 12V micro solenoid valve should be checked together with the power supply, driver circuit and operating cycle. The nominal voltage alone is not enough to confirm reliable operation.
Driver Circuit
The solenoid coil is an inductive load and is normally controlled through a MOSFET or suitable driver IC.
Check:
● coil current;
● driver current capacity;
● voltage drop in the switching circuit;
● turn-off voltage from the coil;
● protection for the controller and nearby components.
A flyback diode or other suppression method may be required. If fast release is important, check whether the suppression circuit affects valve closing time.
Duty Cycle and Temperature
Coil temperature depends on how long and how often the valve is energized.
For repeated or continuous operation, test the valve under the actual equipment conditions, including:
● ambient temperature;
● enclosure condition;
● supply-voltage range;
● mounting position;
● switching frequency.
Do not rely only on room-temperature bench testing when the valve will operate inside a closed device.
Pull-In and Hold Current
The coil needs enough current to move the plunger during actuation.
In some applications, the holding power can be reduced after the valve has fully actuated:
12V pull-in → reduced holding power
This can lower power consumption and coil temperature during long ON periods.
The holding level should still be verified at maximum working pressure, high temperature and minimum supply voltage.
Before approval, confirm that the 12V micro solenoid valve switches reliably and remains within the acceptable temperature range under the actual operating conditions.
Where 12V Micro Solenoid Valves Are Commonly Used
Because 12V DC is already available in many compact electronic systems, 12V valves are commonly integrated into:
Medical and Healthcare Equipment
Used where compact air or liquid switching must interface with an electronic controller.
Home Appliances
Used in products containing pumps, water circuits, pneumatic chambers or controlled dispensing functions.
Automotive Interior Systems
A 12V supply makes this voltage practical for auxiliary pneumatic and fluid-control modules.
Laboratory Equipment
Used for sample routing, pneumatic actuation and controlled fluid paths.
Beauty and Personal-Care Devices
Compact dimensions allow installation inside electronically controlled treatment equipment.
Small Automation Systems
Used where PLC or embedded controllers operate pumps, cylinders or fluid-control modules.
The valve still needs to be selected according to the actual medium, pressure and duty cycle for each application.

The valve should then be installed with the production PCB, wire harness, tubing, fittings, pump and pressure source.
System testing should cover:
● minimum supply voltage;
● maximum working pressure;
● maximum operating temperature;
● longest energizing time;
● actual equipment switching cycle.
Cycle testing should follow the real operating sequence of the equipment.
Production Specification
After testing is completed, the approved valve configuration should be fixed for production, including:
● valve model;
● coil specification;
● normally open or normally closed function;
● body and seal materials;
● wiring and connector;
● port configuration;
● dimensional drawing;
● inspection requirements.
This specification is used as the reference for repeat orders.
Production Checks
Inspection items depend on the valve model and application. They may include:
● coil resistance and current;
● wiring continuity;
● energized and de-energized states;
● port switching;
● return action;
● air or liquid leakage;
● pressure holding;
● flow or response testing where specified.
Acceptance limits should follow the approved product specification.
